We hear from a lot of businesses and professionals who would like to find a local first aid course and update their skills but when they're then met with a sea of different options they walk away feeling utterly confused! Mini First Aid East Sussex, Brighton & Hove are here to demystify the basics when it comes to first aid courses and classes so that you can can find the perfect first aid qualification for you

Emergency First Aid At Work (EFAW)

This is a firm favourite for local businesses and it's easy to understand why. Our Emergency First Aid At Work qualification course is a 6 hour class run over 1 day in a local East Sussex or Brighton venue. It is ideal for anyone working in lower risk or smaller settings who wants to receive training in emergency first aid. It covers from children to adults and includes the recovery position, CPR, common injuries and illnesses. If you successfully pass this class then you will receive a certificate valid for 3 years. This is a fantastic course for those who have contact with members of the public or want to be reassured that they would know what to do if a colleague or client became injured or unwell.

First Aid At Work (PAW)

If you work in a larger or higher risk setting, then you may feel that our First Aid At Work course is a better fit. This can be run as a 3 day course but we often prefer to run the class as 'blended learning'. That means that you complete part of the course as e-learning in your own time and then spend 2 days with us in person. So what makes your business higher risk? Well, the HSE leave you to assess how risky you think your business is but there are certainly some areas that make your business 'higher risk'. This could include working rurally, working with heavy machinery, working at height, working with chemicals etc. Your business could also be considered more 'risky' if you have staff who are inexperienced or have health conditions, or simply because you have more staff in a bigger setting.

Paediatric First Aid At Work (PFAW)

If you work in an early years setting then this course will be a natural choice for you. This course covers first aid for 0-5 year olds and unlike the emergency first aid at work (and first aid at work) it also includes first aid for babies. Paediatric First Aid At Work is usually run by us as blended learning so that you have some e-learning to complete at home before the class and then come and see us for just 1 day in person training. This allows you to be confident in your first aid skills whilst minimising time away from your business or family. For this reason, our open classes for PFAW are often run on a Saturday or Sunday. The class is perfect for those working with children without parents/carers present. It is open to anyone working in early years.

So, what if you work with children in your business but their parents/carers stay with them? Well, you can absolutely still come along to a PFAW sessions but, you may prefer our 2 hour baby and child first aid class. This class is designed for parents but we regularly hear from businesses who want to know baby and child first aid in case something were to happen at a session but the leader isn't actually responsible for the children attending (because they're parents are still there). In that case, you could save yourself a significant amount of time and money by coming to our 2 hour class instead so that you still know what to do in an emergency but aren't completing a full PFAW course.

The most important thing.......

The most important thing is that you and your team feel confident in dealing with accidents and emergencies if they happen and that you are refreshing your knowledge regularly (at least 3 yearly).
